Cow Parade in Austin, Texas.

October 9th, 2011 by Chuck

At first I was kinda bummed when I saw the cows.  Around almost every corner in the downtown area, I found a fiberglass cow decorated to fit into the area where it was firmly mounted.  A taco cow was near food and monopoly cow near the banks, etc.

After I discovered that the art exhibit was a traveling one, I was relieved that they would eventually be on their way.  There’s enough evidence for Texas’ history of steer, and despite the great effort to artistically decorate each one uniquely, it’s still too much for this state.

It might have worked very well in the previous 75 cities, 30 countries and 6 continents that it has already been installed. But in Texas, a decorated cow just doesn’t stand out as interesting.

Grab the cows by their horns and snap a photo, because sometime in October several will be auctioned off and the Cow Parade will be rounded up and shipped the hell out of this town. Bye, Bye…don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out! :)

2011 Rot Rally in Austin.

A stretched Suzuki GSXR parked on Congress during 2011 Rot Rally.

What can I say?  Covering events for not much more than a blog on the internet can get kinda short and fast.  Especially since I covered this event in the past.  For more pics and a few more words than this year, check out 2009 Rot Rally in Austin, Texas.

Enchanted Rock, Day Trip From Austin.

May 30th, 2011 by Chuck

If you can deal with the price of today’s gasoline, pack up your car with hiking supplies and head out west!  Or better yet, take the motorcycle through the winding roads of the hillcountry of Austin.  However you get there, walking on top of Enchanted Rock is a must for at least one time.  Some of us fall in love with the place and return to visit at least a handful of times.  Even if the trips are years apart from each other, when you arrive again you will see that the giant hill of granite has not changed an inch and is just like you left it last.
